Recover a Domain After It Expires

GUIDE-6.4 · 1 min · Updated September 2026

  1. Days 0–30 after expiration: the domain is in a standard renewal window. You can still renew it at the normal cost, the same way as any other renewal (see Renew a Domain Manually).

  2. About 5 more days: a short processing window before the domain enters the redemption grace period.

  3. Redemption grace period, 30 days: the domain is no longer renewable at the normal price, but you can still recover it for a redemption fee.

  4. 5 days after the redemption grace period ends: the domain enters Pending Delete and can no longer be recovered.

  5. After Pending Delete, the domain drops and becomes available for anyone to register.

Recovering a domain during the redemption grace period is self-service, the same as any other purchase.

  1. When one of your domains enters the redemption grace period, a notification appears in Domain Manager.

  2. Open the notification to see every domain of yours currently in the redemption grace period, along with its redemption end date and price.

  3. Select the domain and select Redeem to add it to your cart.

  4. Check out to complete the recovery.
